Elysium Calling: Bio's

Garth Brooks - Guitar

Garth Brooks was co-founder and co-writer of local world groove flamenco/dance band Last Caravan from 1997-2000. He has toured extensively throughout California playing at the Mountain Aire Music Festival, Bear Valley Music Festival, California State Fair, and every club, college, and coffee shop from Hollywood to Humboldt. Garth draws his influence from musicians he has worked with personally: Vincent Zorn, Thomas Higgins, Kenneth Hooper, and Moya Brooks. Less personal but also inspirational influences are Michael Hedges, Medeski, Martin & Wood and Charlie Hunter.

Kenneth Hooper - Native American Flute

Kenneth Hooper began playing Native American Flute upon returning from his second visit to the Amazon Jungle, where he lived, worked, and studied music for several months. It was in the Amazon jungle where he explored and developed his playing style first on a penny whistle. Later, when he discovered the Native American Flute, he fell in love immediately with the clear natural tones it produced. More than just the tones, Kenneth felt as if he had found his instrument—one that allowed him to give voice to something much greater than himself. Kenneth’s influences include Pink Floyd, Carlos Nakai, John Gorka and Autumn’s Child.
